When searching for information on the web, sometimes the results can be overwhelming not to mention the quality of information may leave much to be desired. Ways that you can improve effectiveness of your searches is to take advantage of advanced search features offered by various search engines such as Google. One really great trick is to use is at the end of your search term to use site:gov or site:edu What this does, is limits your search to only government websites and only university websites. All research article abstracts can be accessed and searched by using site:gov. For example, if someone wanted to search for information about resveratrol and cancer and wanted to see what research papers were available, typing the following in your search bar: resveratrol cancer site:gov brings up all sorts of research articles, at least one government trial, some pages from the FDA and so forth. Doing the same search with site:edu on the end brings up a wide selection of work being done by universities on the topic of resveratrol and cancer.
